Profile of Program

The Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program aims to train intermediate staff in the administrative services of health institutions and organizations in the light of contemporary and universal values. Therefore, this program aims to train health personnel who can collect, organize, archive and provide service for medical documents formed in health institutions in accordance with scientific rules, and who can carry out contemporary secretarial services in clinics, polyclinics and offices.

Educational Atmosphere

Education and training are carried out in a formal manner. Due to the sufficient technological possibilities, distance education is also partially implemented. In addition, practical training is provided through units such as research centers etc. within the University.

Program Outputs (Qualifications)

A student who completes the program;

PO-1. Contributes to projects and activities with a sense of social responsibility by following developments in science and technology with the awareness of lifelong learning and constantly renews himself/herself.

PO-2. Takes part in the team to solve complex and unforeseen problems encountered in applications related to the field of health services and acts in accordance with organizational communication, management and organization, quality management and processes and assumes individual responsibility when necessary.

PO-3. Understands the importance of documents by comprehending the historical development of medical documents and focuses on problem solving

PO-4. Knows the terms and concepts related to medical terminology, disease information and first aid practices required by the field and uses the concepts without error.

PO-5. Prepares and presents statistical data for health records. Provides resources for public health studies.

PO-6. Understands the content and importance of the patient file and organizes the patient file in accordance with archive rules.

PO-7. Conducts internal and external correspondence, classifies, files and organizes documents, and carries out archive operations according to filing techniques.

PO-8. Effectively uses basic computer programs, relevant technologies and office devices required for professional practices and performs hospital automation operations related to medical documentation processes

PO-9. Recognizes institutions and organizations within the health system, acts in accordance with the laws, regulations and legislation regarding duties, rights and responsibilities as an individual working in the field of Medical Documentation and Secretariat

Is aware of professional responsibilities and uses them in the work environment (keeping patient information confidential, keeping files in order, preserving medical documents, communicating politely with patients and their relatives, assisting healthcare professionals in medical research, etc.).

Measurement and Evaluation Methods

Measurement and evaluation methods; types of exams and their contribution to course success grades, Çağ University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations and Senate decisions are determined.

Different methods such as homework, graduation projects, internships, midterm exams and final exams are used in measurement and evaluation.

In the evaluation of student success, letter and/or number based grading systems are used.

Quality Assurance

To monitor the quality of higher education programs;

- CoHE is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and supervising the education and training and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

- "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions prepared every year within the framework of criteria determined by CoHE are published. Reports containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions prepared according to these reports are also shared with the public by CoHE

- The “Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report” is published each year by the CoHE, which includes academic, administrative and financial data on foundation higher education institutions. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by the CoHE 

The quality assurance of the court clerical services Associate Degree Program is provided as follows:

CoHE determines the minimum standards and criteria required for opening associate and undergraduate programs in higher education institutions.

The curriculum of associate and undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to students are determined by the Çağ University Senate in accordance with the basic principles determined by the CoHE on these issues.

Measurement-Evaluation:

The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes that the Program will provide to the student is carried out according to the Çağ University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation, which was prepared in accordance with the basic principles determined by the CoHE on these issues.

Certification:

Students enrolled in the Program receive an associate degree/undergraduate diploma when they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.

Self-Assessment and External Assessment:

In the context of continuous monitoring, Çağ University enters the “Internal Institutional Evaluation Reports” of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the “Institutional Feedback Report” prepared by YÖKAK regarding the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions given by accreditation institutions authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also show that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programs is provided. YÖKAK carries out regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

Enrolling Requirements

To be placed in Çağ University Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program as a result of the central exam conducted by ÖSYM.

Conditions for Qualification

The graduation requirements for the Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program are specified in the Çağ University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation. Accordingly, students can graduate if they pass all courses in the curriculum with a minimum letter grade of DD and achieve a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Further Advantages

Students who graduated from the Medical Documentation and Secretarial Associate Degree Program can apply to undergraduate programs based on the results of the Vertical Transfer Exam conducted by ÖSYM.

COURSE OBJECTİVE

The aim of this course is to teach medical terms, including an introduction to roots, prefixes, suffixes, general use of singular and plural forms, diminutives, general disease terms, and terminology related to the musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, circulatory system, urogenital system, nervous system, endocrine system, blood and blood-forming organs, as well as terms related to the eyes, ears, and skin. This course covers the definition and characteristics of language, the relationship between language and culture, classification of languages and the place of Turkish among world languages, the historical development of the Turkish language, Turkey Turkish, phonetics, and phonological processes in Turkish, spelling rules, punctuation marks, and writing conventions. Rhetoric and composition rules are also taught both theoretically and practically to ensure the appropriate and coherent expression of ideas and emotions.


TRK-104 - Turkish II

This course focuses on the simplification process of Turkish, phonological changes, structural features, spelling and punctuation rules, and the characteristics of written and oral expression. It also aims to equip students with the skills necessary to write formal petitions through instruction on relevant conventions.


ING-105 - English Language Skills I

This course aims to motivate students through engaging and relevant reading texts while providing examples of target grammar and vocabulary. Grammar is emphasized through active participation in the learning process. Selected texts serve as the basis for tasks focusing on both content and form. Vocabulary is developed through usage-based exercises. Listening, speaking, and reading skills are enhanced through introductory texts, while writing skills are improved by providing students with opportunities to control the language and create various types of written texts.

HUK-203 - Introduction to Law

The course examines the function of law in society, compares legal rules with religious, customary, and moral norms, and addresses public-private law distinctions. It covers legal relations and rights, types of rights, right holders and subjects, acquisition and loss of rights, legal acts and transactions, and methods of protecting rights.


TAR-203 - Atatürk’s Principles and History of Reforms I

This course analyzes the reasons for the failure of reforms in the late Ottoman Empire and their influence on Atatürk’s reforms. It introduces ideologies such as Turkism, Islamism, Ottomanism, Westernism, and Socialism. The course also examines the War of Independence led by Mustafa Kemal as a process to end occupations and establish a nation-state based on national sovereignty.

This course is a continuation of HIS-203, reinforcing knowledge about the failures of late Ottoman reforms and their effects on Atatürk’s transformations.
